The Best Hour a Peach Grower Can Spend This is the official web site for the most exciting peach tree variety breeding program since the famous Redhaven was introduced. There are now 24 Flamin' FuryŽ peach varieties currently listed with photos attached on our "Flamin' Fury Varieties" page and collectively the series now spans a 15 week harvest period. The 24 cultivars displayed there have been selected as the very best of the 30 varieties that have been patented over time. Many growers have looked at this list and found that one of their favorite varieties was missing as it has now been replaced with a better, newer, selection for that particular time frame. It is our challenge to continously improve our series by offering only the best of the best. Done correctly, a breeding program is a rapid evolutionary process, introducing new and eliminating older varieties. The Flamin' FuryŽ peach series, which now surpasses Redhaven in many qualities, was developed with eight goals in mind: Large Size, Excellent Color, Superior Flavor, Desirable Firmness, Disease Resistance, Cold Tolerance ( both winter and spring), a particularly few number of Split Pits and Extraordinary Productivity. The Flamin' FuryŽ peach series now spans a 16 week growing period, we have increased the harvest period over a month with excellent varieties for all time periods in Michigan, many other states and Canada. This series is rapidly becoming ubiquitous. The series now includes: Early Freestones, very large freestone varieties throughout the season ( particularly the 007 series), extremely winter and spring Hardy Varieties. Varieties that are very high in brix (% sugar), thus yielding excellent flavor, and even the World's Largest Peach ever (PF 24-007). As new varieties are introduced on an ongoing basis, older varieties, although still very good, are dropped from our "Flamin' FuryŽ Varieties" page to keep only the very best, up to date varieties on our current list. This series of peaches is trademarked Flamin' FuryŽ and the individual varieties are named and patented as PF numbers in the approximate order of ripening. They are usually marketed as Flamin' FuryŽ Peaches, (example) Flamin' FuryŽ PF Lucky 13, etc. All of the Flamin' FuryŽ varieties having the designation (007) in their name are extremely large and all selections with (Lucky) in their name are notably firm and have a fantastic ability to hang a very long time on the tree. Most varieties now have both favorable characteristics, large and very firm, but the name would be too long to include both notations in a particuar kinds name. All variety information as well as detailed descriptions of each kind of peach for every ripening period can be easily picked up on the description page called "Flamin' FuryŽ Varieties".
I am confident you will find the peach varieties you've been looking for within my series; whether for commercial shipping, local markets, or "pick your own" operations. The chill hour range of 700 to 850 hours makes this series very adaptable to many growers in many states. Varieties from the Flamin' FuryŽ series are being grown very successfuly in many states which include the following: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Virgina, West Virgina, Idaho, New York and high elevation locations in California. Both Dr. Robert Andersen at Cornell University in New York and Jerry Frecon of the Rutgers University Extension Service in New Jersey have found that the Flamin' FuryŽ series does very well in their respective, varying growing conditions. Many varieties of this series have been very adaptible to the adverse growing conditions of New York state and Dr. Andersen, as a result of both field observations and laboratory testing has highly recommended that many varieties from this series be planted there. Many Flamin' FuryŽ varieties are also being planted in many areas of Canada. Dr. Esmaeil Fallahi at the University of Idaho and James Pitts, the superintendent of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station for Alburn University, have also found many of my varieties do well in the varying climates of their states.

For 40 years I have been searching and finding new, improved and superior peach cultivars. New varieties are released after a history of an average of about 17 years experience has been established with the fruit of the cultivars. From the many thousands of crosses I have made over the years I currently have 138 cultivars in their second and third generation test blocks that show exraordinary potential. Some of these will be released in the near future. My fruit growing family has been in search of better varieties and better methods of growing fruit since they came here from Germany in 1846, ten years after Michigan became a state. A part of my farm which has been in the family for 161 years is located on Friday Road, Coloma, Michigan.
